About WRLDU
WRLDU is a free browser-based internet speed test with practical guides for understanding and improving your connection.
What WRLDU is
WRLDU (wrldu.com) is a free internet speed test and a small set of network tools: a live ping and jitter monitor, a DNS speed benchmark, an IP address lookup, and bandwidth calculators for download time, upload time, and data usage.
Alongside the tools we publish written guides about home networking, Wi-Fi, latency, gaming connections, and broadband technology. The goal is simple: give you a number, then help you understand what that number means and what to do about it.
Why we built it
A speed test result is only useful if you can interpret it. Many people see "250 Mbps" or "38 ms" and have no idea whether that is good, why it differs from their plan, or why a game still lags on a fast connection. Every tool on WRLDU is paired with explanations, and our guides go deeper on the most common questions.
What the speed test measures, and its limits
When you press GO, your browser opens several parallel HTTP connections and transfers test data to and from public test endpoints hosted on large content delivery networks (CDNs), including Cloudflare's public speed-test service. It also measures round-trip latency (ping) with small requests to nearby cloud endpoints, and jitter as the variation between those latency samples. WRLDU provides the website, the test logic, and the calculations; the data transfer itself uses these third-party endpoints.
No browser-based test is perfect. Your result reflects the path between your device and those endpoints at that moment, so it is affected by your Wi-Fi signal, your device, your browser, other devices on your network, congestion, and the distance to the endpoint. Results can differ from other speed test services. For the most reliable reading, connect with an Ethernet cable, pause other downloads, and run the test a few times.
How our guides are written
Guides are written and edited by the WRLDU editorial team. We draw on standards documents, vendor specifications, and well-known technical references, and we explain technical terms in plain language. Figures in our guides are typical ranges, not laboratory measurements made by WRLDU. Our Editorial Policy page explains this in detail, including how to report a mistake.
How WRLDU is funded
WRLDU is free to use and does not require an account. To cover hosting costs the site may display advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense. Advertising never changes your test results, and it does not influence what we write. See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for details about advertising cookies and your choices.
Who runs WRLDU
WRLDU is an independent project created and maintained by a Cambodia-based web developer. We are not owned by, sponsored by, or affiliated with any internet service provider, hardware vendor, or other speed test provider.
